This Browning is also a direct-vision spectroscope that differs from the one described above in that it is larger and the inner tube, in which the direct-vision prism is housed, has at one end a converging lens that acts as a collimator, and at the other end a converging lens that acts as the eyepiece.
The adjustable slot, which is placed at one end of the outer tube, is protected by a cap with a glass base; near the other end a knurled screw that moves a small lever fixed to the edge of the inner tube is for focusing. The outside tube is 14 cm in length and has a diameter of 2.2 cm, while the inner tube is 9.5 cm in length and has a diameter of 2.1 cm.
The case is made of wood and is covered on the outside with shagreen and lined on the inside with velvet and silk.
On the silk lining of the cover we find the trademark and the manufacturer's name printed in pure gold; the same are also impressed on the outside tube of the spectroscope.
